Alpaca Dew (Light Grey)

Alpaca Dew (Light Grey)

Type of Yarn

This colour is called Dew and that is not a coincidence. Think of the first light on misty mornings and the clear drops of water clinging to tall grass and this light grey colour comes to mind. The colour is achieved by mixing a small amount of black fibre with top quality ice white fleece. This ensures a yarn that is full of life and has a stunning and subtle marl effect.

“This yarn is like spun unicorn fluff not alpaca, it is stunning! “

Yarn colour:
Purl’s 100% pure alpaca yarn is not dyed, all the colours are completely natural and the fibre is source from local breeders. Due to our yarn being completely natural colours there will be a variation in the different batches made depending on what colour fleece goes into each particular blend.

Yarn thickness:
Our yarn comes in two thicknesses; Fine and Medium. Fine is equivalent to Sports weight (this thickness is in between 4 ply and DK) and Medium is a Worsted weight (this thickness lies between DK and Aran).

Yarn softness:
Our yarn is created using alpaca fleeces sourced mainly from farms in the South of England. Our own herd of 26 alpacas always go in the blend as well as fibre from farms we know and trust. We only use the finest fibre for our yarn and create a stunning and soft end product that is lovely to knit with and feels amazing to wear!

Knitting tension:
Fine: 20 sts and 29 rows on 4 mm needles over a 10 cm square.
Medium: 17 sts and 24 rows on 5 mm needles over a 10 cm square.
We recommend always knitting a tension square to check your tension against the pattern you are working from and adjust needle size accordingly.

Fine: 50g ball, 126 yards/116 meters
Medium: 50g ball, 84 yards/77 meters
