Lily Dress Knitting pattern

The Lily Dress is a great knit for those wanting to try a dress without too difficult a stitch pattern. Inspired by the fabulous evening wear of the 1920’s and 30’s, Lily is relatively easy to make as the skirt and body are knitted in the round, with the bodice becoming two pieces after the underarm cast off.

Knitting techniques include:
inc2 - knit into front, back and front of stitch
k2tog - knit the next 2 sts together
k3tog - knit the next 3 sts together
LPT [left purl twist] - Slip next stitch to cable needle and hold to front, p1, k1 from cable needle.
LT [left twist] - Sl next st to cn and hold to front, k1, k1 from cn.
p2tog - purl the next 2 sts together
p2togtbl - purl the next 2 sts together through back of loop
RPT [right purl twist] - Sl next st to cn and hold to back, k1, p1 from cn.
RT [right twist] - Sl next st to cn and hold to back, k1, k1 from cn.
sl1k - slip 1 stitch knitwise
sl1p - slip 1 stitch purlwise
ssk - slip 1 knitwise, slip 1 knitwise, knit slipped sts together through back of loop

Sizes:
X-Small: UK sizes 4-6, to fit approx 73cm/29″ bust (weight 350g : 7 balls or 3 skeins )
Small: UK sizes 8-10, to fit approx 83cm/33″ bust (weight 400g : 8 balls or 3.5 skeins )
Medium: UK sizes 12-14, to fit approx 93cm/37″ bust (weight 500g : 10 balls or 4.5 skeins )
Large: UK sizes 16-18, to fit approx 102cm/40″ bust (weight 600g : 12 balls or 6 skeins )
X-Large: UK sizes 20-22, to fit approx 112cm/44″ bust (weight 650g : 13 balls or 6 skeins )
All sizes are included in the pattern.

Knitted on 4mm circular knitting needles, 80 cm cable.
Tension:  20 sts and  29 rows to 10 cm square over Stocking Stitch using 4mm needles.
