I’m so proud of this yarn, seriously, this is the best thing I’ve ever felt! ‘Next to the skin’ softness and oh so warm. My very limited edition yarn is all made from the fibre of my herd with black fibre from my friend Dawn who lives just down the road. It has been worsted spun at Two Rivers Mill in Dorset and has received rave reviews from fellow knitters at Yarndale and Ali Pally. My favourite comment is this one from my favourite knitting goddess:
“Oh, this is lovely, you should double your price” Erika Knight, Alexandra Palace, Oct 2018
I’ve had seven colours made, Champagne, Copper and Earth as the warmer tones; Storm and Dew as the cooler tones, then Mist and Rain which seem to suit everyone! All 100% pure alpaca yarn as you’ve grown to expect, all undyed and completely natural colours as before.
Some of these were really hard to photograph because the colour changes with the light and/or is influenced by those that surround it. In the line up above, we have:
Earth, Mist, Copper, Champagne, Rain, Dew Storm
There are 270m per 100g skein and I’ve had the yarn thickness made equivalent to a 4 ply or sports weight. This gives a knitting tension of 22 sts and 30 rows on 4 mm needles over a 10 cm square using stocking stitch.
This new yarn will only work with our ‘Fine Yarn’ patterns. When calculating the amount required, multiply the number of balls needed by 116, then divide by 270. This will give you the required number of skeins to buy.
