Anthea Turner in her Duchess Cardigan
A little while back we were invited by Create and Craft TV to take part in their Get Britain Crafting campaign. Of course we said yes! The Get Britain Crafting campaign is a great initiative to get more people crafting and more people exploring new crafts.
We were invited to take part in the Knitting month, but there has been Sewing, Paper Crafting and even Digital month! We think it is a brilliant way to inspire people to try something new or maybe take up again a skill they had forgotten about.
We brought alpacas along for our show, and it went down a treat. The whole of Create and Craft stopped working for a while and came down to see them. They were happily grazing on a small bit of green in the back garden of the studios.
Liz from Houghton Hall Alpacas had brought 4 lovely ladies with her. Three were Huacayas and one was a Suri Alpaca. The Suri alpaca is the white one in the front of the picture on the left. It has silky fleece that almost looks like dreadlocks and produces a very different yarn than Huacayas. We use only Huacaya fibre for our yarn at the moment but will hopefully start using Suri fleece soon as well. You can read more about alpacas and the different types on our website here.
We had a lovely time at the show and Anthea Turner was really enthusiastic about our products. She fell in love with Kari-Helene’s Duchess Cardigan and tried it on. She cheekily threatened to run away with it, but since Kari-Helene really loves hers, we came to an agreement that Anthea would get her own.
She recently sent us this lovely photo of her in the Duchess cardigan. Doesn’t she look fab? She is currently taking part in Dancing on Ice and says that the cardigan keeps her really warm when training at the skating rink. She also gave us a little review on her website, you can read it here!
We wish Anthea the best of luck on the show, and so does Duchess the alpaca!
