World Wide Knit in Public Day

9th of June has been dedicated to the noble cause of knitting in public. Kari-Helene happened to stumble across a post about an outdoors knit-along in a park very close to her house and decided to go along. Slightly delayed because of Cinnabuns taking a lot longer to make then first assumed she arrived in Caledonian Park at 3pm to find a group of lovely knitters on the grass in the park. The weather was luckily on our side and the sun was out!

Just so you see proof – Cinnabuns are in the plastic box on the picnic blanket!

Hosted by the lovely Valerie, there was a friendly and a relaxed atmosphere. Quite a few people showed up without knowing anyone from before and everyone seemed eager to make friends and socialize. Some very interesting projects on the needles, both knit and crochet and lots of good advice to be had. Valerie even demonstrated how to make yarn from plastic bags!

Since it is a bit hard to tell how to do it form a photo, I found this tutorial on the internet that shows the technique very clearly!

Thanks for a great day in the park, Valerie, looking forward to the next one already!

It was my pleasure to host that KIP and I was happy about the friendly knitting atmosphere. I'm ready to renew next year and I'm sure we will all meet before then. Lovely pictures Kari-Helene and very nice meeting you. The cinnabuns were worth the delay. VB
