Alpaca Light (Ivory)
The ice-white fleece are separated from the cream coloured ones to make the brightest and lightest natural white yarn we can. In addition to being a truly stunning colour, it is also incredibly soft and has a beautiful, lustrous shine to it.
“I’ve been knitting for years but I’ve never knitted with anything like this, the yarn is amazing, I cannot get over how beautiful it is and I would recommend it to anybody”. Lynda B
Purl’s 100% pure alpaca yarn is not dyed, all the colours are completely natural and the fibre is source from local breeders. Due to our yarn being completely natural colours there will be a variation in the different batches made depending on what colour fleece goes into each particular blend.
Our yarn is created using alpaca fleeces sourced mainly from farms in the South of England. Our own herd of 26 alpacas always go in the blend as well as fibre from farms we know and trust. We only use the finest fibre for our yarn and create a stunning and soft end product that is lovely to knit with and feels amazing to wear!
Our ivory yarn comes in three thicknesses; Fine, Medium and Chunky. Fine is equivalent to Sports weight (this thickness is in between 4 ply and DK) and Medium is equivalent to a Worsted weight (this thickness is in between DK and Aran).
Fine: 20 sts and 29 rows on 4 mm needles over a 10 cm square.
Medium: 17 sts and 24 rows on 5 mm needles over a 10 cm square.
Chunky: 12 sts and 16 rows on 7 mm needles over a 10 cm square.
We recommend always knitting a tension square to check your tension against the pattern you are working from and adjust needle size accordingly.
Fine: 50g ball, 126 yards/116 meters
Medium: 50g ball, 81 yards/74 meters
Chunky: 100g ball, 81 yards/74 meters
